The Indestructible Water Bear is a rising indie-rock band from Philadelphia, PA. Their newly released video for their single “Missing You” celebrates the release of their debut album Everything is OK. The album muses on love as a force of nature; one that can be both destructive and nurturing. The project highlights the rush of surrendering to emotion and the fearless drop that comes with falling for someone new.
Everything is OK draws inspiration from 90’s alt-rock with a whole new twist and intense perspective. Restless percussion, plunging bass lines, and effervescent yet powerful vocals from lead singer Gail Farmer bring the album to life. On “Missing You”, she sings, “You feel so far on the phone / Nonetheless, your voice feels like home.” Everything is OK embraces the duality of love. How sometimes the people who are furthest from us are the people we are closest to, and things we want most are the things we can’t have.
Revealing more on Everything is OK, Farmer shares, “We wanted the songs on this album to be rich with dynamics, mirroring the intensity and complexity of feelings that come with parenthood, friendship, romantic love and loving oneself. Our hope is that every listener will be able to connect with the themes of joy, longing, security, fear, pleasure and pain that stem from allowing yourself to connect deeply with others. A common thread across all the songs is accepting these ups and downs, because in life, there often are no great resolutions or solutions to how we feel. Rather, with these songs we explore, and ultimately accept, the way things are.”
Everything is OK is a grounded and mature debut for The Indestructible Water Bear. The seven-track collection is rooted in its identity, sure of itself, and profound beyond words. The future for this indie band out of Philadelphia is bright.
