For emerging singer-songwriter and TikTok star Avery Anna, change is inevitable. Everything is laid out on the line on her sophomore album, let go letters, due out May 16, from what’s weighing on her to feeling overwhelming pain and struggle.

Nearly a year after releasing her debut project, Breakup Over Breakfast, Anna explained in a social post that she started encouraging people who attended her shows to write down what was weighing on them that they just wanted to let go.
She added that, during her first headlining show in Columbus, Ohio, two years ago, she received some of her first letters from fans, and shortly after, realized how special it was that all of these people bought tickets to connect and relate to songs she cared deeply for. As a result, Anna said she began putting a box out by the merch booth for people to drop their letters into — which the title to her sophomore album, let go letters, came from.
The new album comes after Anna was inspired to write about the letters she received in her own words, interpreting them in ways in which utmost vulnerability was shown to her, she said. For instance, Anna shared the new single, “danny don’t,” about suicide, and how victims of abuse blame themselves weeks after releasing “Wish You Well.”
“I hope everyone [who] hears these can feel a sense of peace and understanding. I believe [that] to be loved is to be understood,” she said. “I want to thank you for showing up for me, being honest with me, and writing to me. This album is my letter back to you.
