Coming off an exciting year last year with the film adaptation of the musical Wicked which came out on Nov. 22, our very own Elphaba Thropp, a.k.a. Cynthia Erivo, has announced her long-awaited debut album, I Forgive You. The album is due out June 6 via Verve Records/Republic Records.
Presave I Forgive You here.
The GRAMMY, Tony and EMMY Award winner and three-time Academy Award nominee is setting the stage for its arrival by releasing her new single “Worst Of Me” tonight at midnight ET/9 p.m. PT/5 a.m. UK tomorrow.
Erivo is known for her masterful vocals, belting her heart out on the iconic closer and viral TikTok trend track, “Defying Gravity,” which also appeared on Wicked: The Soundtrack. Earlier this year, she was nominated for Best Actress at the Academy Awards for her critically acclaimed portrayal of Elphaba in Wicked and she also performed on the Oscars’ stage.
Now, she is letting go of all her inhibitions on I Forgive You, holding nothing back and opening up more than ever before. The release says that on the album, she will “[trace] a personal, poetic and poignant journey through romance, heartbreak, love, forgiveness, rebirth and new beginnings.”
