5 Seconds of Summer alum Calum Hood is making a name for himself away from the critically acclaimed band. He will take a look inward, as he aims to move forward through pain with the announcement of his debut solo album, ORDER chaos ORDER, due out June 13 via Capitol Records.
Hood has also released his debut solo single, “Don’t Forget You Love Me,” which serves as the “album’s emotional cornerstone,” the release states. The song also showcases raw vulnerability and sonic depth, all of which make for a stellar debut for ORDER chaos ORDER.

“This album was made in a tumble dryer of knowing and not knowing. I started out with a vision—order—but quickly became overwhelmed by the process—chaos,” Hood said. “Eventually, I learned to embrace both, and that balance became the heart of the record.”
Moreover, “Don’t Forget You Love Me,” which is written and produced by TMS (Lewis Capaldi, Ed Sheeran) and Jack LaFrantz (Benson Boone), sees Hood soul-searching amid heartbreak.
With effortless heart and Hood’s signature deep vocals, “Don’t Forget You Love Me” plays on 5 Seconds of Summer’s upbeat pop tempo for his debut. 1/4 of the group, Hood gives us a taste of his raw and independent-sounding vulnerability, exploring themes of self-love and heartbreak. With its mellow and hauntingly introspective sound, Hood is ready to give fans a rollercoaster worth our time and — worth remembering. Despite a fear of picking up the phone following a tumultuous disagreement in his relationship, he sings, “Instead of looking for a fight / I should have looked you in the eyes / ‘Cause what it really was was me begging.”
ORDER chaos ORDER has been described as “heady, raw, tender work that is unflinchingly sincere, buoyed by hints of a coiled intensity within” in the release. It was primarily created with Jackson Phillips, a.k.a. Day Wave, with notable contributions from David Burris (Lauren Spencer Smith, ITZY) and TMS. As a result, Hood deals with both his past and forges a new beginning for himself and his music.
“There are things I’ve never been able to sing about in the band—my upbringing, my family, the places life has taken me,” he said. “This album is about laying those things to rest and allowing listeners to connect in their own way.”
