Oscar nominated and Grammy Award winning artist Ariana Grande continues to soar with release of brighter days ahead, a short film to accompany her latest project, eternal sunshine deluxe: brighter days. The visual experience, co-directed by Grande and frequent collaborator Christian Breslauer, offers a poignant exploration of love, loss, personal growth, and the temporary nature of memory
Set in the world of eternal sunshine deluxe: brighter days, the short film revisits Peaches, a character portrayed by Grande originally in her music video for “we can’t be friends (wait for your love).” This takes place seventy years after her initial introduction. She returns to Brighter Days Inc. to have advanced memory restoration, allowing her to relive joyous and painful moments from her past. As Peaches navigates this fascinating process, she reunites with her younger self, confronts the realities of fame, and heals from generational trauma. Each relived memory is permanently erased, adding a bittersweet twist to her journey.
The film marks a close on Grande’s latest album era with a cinematic and emotional narrative. Fans in select cities including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Boca Raton (Grande’s hometown) were treated to special screenings of brighter days ahead on March 30th, allowing them to experience the film in a theater setting.
The release of brighter days ahead also commemorates the one year anniversary of eternal sunshine, her critically acclaimed, Grammy nominated record. It debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and includes hits such as “yes, and?,” “we can’t be friends (wait for your love),” and “the boy is mine.” eternal sunshine was the only album in 2024 to produce multiple Hot 100 No. 1 hits.
With brighter days ahead, Ariana Grande continues to push boundaries, delivering an audiovisual experience that resonates with fans across the globe. The short film stands as a testament to her artistic growth, cementing her legacy as one of the most innovative and influential pop artists of her generation.
