Melodic Music Monday: March 17

Date:

Every Monday, we bring you a playlist filled with new tracks the Melodic staff has been listening to on repeat. Hear some of our latest obsessions below:

——

Chappell Roan, “The Giver” – Now that the single has dropped, she is releasing five 7-inch limited edition vinyls with covers of her as different characters who “get the job done,” including a lawyer, a dentist, and a plumber. For the past month, those characters have been displayed in different cities all over the country on various billboards and flyers. If the job is writing the perfect country song, then Roan certainly gets the job done.

– Hannah Croteau

——

Knox, “50/50” – In Knox’s new sentimental pop-ballad, “50/50” he lets his listeners know it’s okay to ask for more. The single is the third release, following “Pick Your Poison” and “You Happened,” off Knox’s upcoming debut album, Going Going Gone which comes out in just under three weeks. A diversion from his last two releases, “50/50” tackles tougher subject matter, in asking for what you need in a relationship.

– Shauna Hilferty

——

Lucy Dacus, “Talk” – “Talk” is the fourth single to be released off of the upcoming album, along with “Limerence,” “Best Guess,” and “Ankles,” which made its debut on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in January. Dacus unveiled the complete tracklist before playing a sold out show in Paris as part of ‘An Evening With’ tour. The album will consist of 13 songs, including “Bullseye” featuring Hozier.

– Reagan Denning

——

almost a.m., “Helicopter Head” – The song explores the relentless cycle of overthinking and uncertainty, painting vivid imagery of mental exhaustion. Lines like “I don’t know where I’m going, neither do you” and “I’m a movie with no trailer and no sequel” evoke a sense of aimlessness, while the contrast between “I want it like a deer wants headlights” and “I hate it like a speaker hates silence” underscores the inner turmoil. The track effortlessly balances this emotional weight with an upbeat, almost danceable sound — an approach that makes the chaos feel strangely cathartic.
