The Ivy and Lyncs come together for “Don’t Fall Asleep To This” ahead of upcoming tour

Date:

For The Ivy and Lyncs, it makes all the sense in the world for the two to join forces. When indie pop duo The Ivy came onto the scene in 2017, their singles “Gold” and “Have You Ever Been in Love” went viral. Fans compared them to The 1975, which is a band that Lyncs takes inspiration from for her music. In 2019, Lyncs released her debut EP, Everytime I Find the Meaning of Life It Changes, to much acclaim from the likes of Billboard and American Songwriter. Basically, it was only a matter of time for The Ivy and Lyncs to come together, as their songs are fresh, inviting, and heartfelt. In the spring, the two acts will unite on stages across North America, performing in major cities like Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston, and Dallas. Before they head out, however, they are uniting for the collaborative release of “Don’t Fall Asleep To This.”

On “Don’t Fall Asleep To This,” The Ivy and Lyncs explore the challenges of long-distance relationships. They alternate lyrics throughout the single, giving voice to different sides of the situation. Against the fast-paced strumming and zippy synth, we hear lines like, “And I’m with these people I don’t know / Feels like I’m missing something” and “I’m only a call away / Don’t know how much I can take,” demonstrating how frustrating it is to not be so close. In the end, though, we hear, “I wouldn’t change a thing / When it comes to you and me,” showing that the love that is shared is still there to preserve.

The Ivy & Lyncs - Don't Fall Asleep To This

About “Don’t Fall Asleep To This,” Lyncs explains,

“Working with The Ivy on ‘Don’t Fall Asleep To This’ was an incredible experience. The song started with a mesmerizing, lullaby-like synthesizer. Initially, we leaned into that dreamy, slow vibe, but by the second day, we transformed it into something more upbeat and driving, which gave it that dynamic energy that matched both our sounds.”

The Ivy also share,

“The writing process felt so natural and seamless. We’re thrilled with what we created together.”
