Madeline The Person ventures down the “Rabbit Hole” on new single

Date:

When Madeline The Person was signed to Warner Music Group in 2021, she released a little song called “MEAN!” The rest is history. It led to over 110M streams, a remix with Noah Kahan, and tour spots with prevalent artists like Maisie Peters, Claire Rosinkranz, and Alec Benjamin. After going independent in 2023, Madeline The Person linked up with her now executive producer, Petro AP, who has worked with Reneé Rapp and Alexander 23. Together, they tapped into new elements of Madeline The Person’s songwriting, and developed a sound that will be fully realized on her upcoming debut album. The album is set to drop later this year, but for now, we get its first single, “Rabbit Hole.”

We plunge into a world of mystery and fantasy on “Rabbit Hole.” Throughout the track, Madeline The Person touches on her daydreams, focusing on what it is like to drift in and out of reality. With charmingly innocent vocals, she sings, “I just know I’m a person / With a whole lot of love to spend / I’m sinking down the rabbit hole of make-believe / Play pretend you’re falling in love with me,” getting lost in her own imagination. The playful melodies, piano chords, horns, and decorative “La La La” lines give the single an unbothered spirit, making this a whimsical introduction to Madeline The Person’s debut album.

About the single, Madeline The Person shares,

“‘Rabbit Hole’ is my self-admittance of delusional daydreaming. I wrote this one to bring the listener with me as I show them my dips in and out of reality. In the past few years, I have come to terms with my spiraling thought loops and how badly I get stuck in them. When they are about real things, it can get very scary, but my spiraling about having a big fat crush is kind of funny and silly to look at. I create sweet little words and entire lives in my head, sometimes so appealing that I want to jump straight in and get lost there forever. This song is an acknowledgment of the darkness within my internal spiraling, while also celebrating my overactive imagination. I love the things I make up inside my head. They feel so safe and sweet. ‘Rabbit Hole’ is an ode to all of my fellow daydreamers out there. Keep dreaming.”
