Every Monday, we bring you a playlist filled with new tracks the Melodic staff has been listening to on repeat. Hear some of our latest obsessions below:
David Kushner, “Love Worth Saving” – “Is this love worth saving?” That’s the titular question that Kushner poses on the opening track “Love Worth Saving.” Through literal lyrics and a solemn tone, he employs emotive storytelling to make you wonder what could be decades later. He sings, “Time is movin’, baby / Will we last past eighty?” and “Will we die old and angry? / Or is this love worth saving?” An introspective track that explores the inevitability of change, Kushner questions whether love can make it through growing old and personal difficulties after watching his parents’ relationship crumble to pieces.

Slow Coast, “Perfect Lie” – “Perfect Lie” sets the indie scene from the start with a bouncy bassline, smooth electric guitar and an accompanying simple, flowing drum beat. Apart from the head-bopping rhythm, the lyricism shines through to relay an important, thought-provoking message.
– Audrey Van Schagen

Marc Atlas, “Fool” – “Fool” is about giving your all to someone who doesn’t reciprocate your energy. Through strong vocals and light piano, Marc Atlas shares his struggles with running after love. While the person he likes has not shown interest in him, he still fights tooth and nail for an ounce of their attention, causing him to feel drained yet determined to nurture this relationship.
– Emma Celenza
——
Saint Lyra, “dragonfruit” – Formerly known as Yardij, Saint Lyra has reinvented their brand with new single “dragonfruit,” released on Feb. 11. The single perfectly combines a possible new signature etherealism with alternative rock. Listeners first hear echoing synths that blend into electric guitar, hooking people as soon as they press play.
