Melodic Music Monday: February 10

Date:

Every Monday, we bring you a playlist filled with new tracks the Melodic staff has been listening to on repeat. Hear some of our latest obsessions below:

Rascal Flatts and the Jonas Brothers, “I Dare You” – Just a few days before its release, Rascal Flatts took to Instagram with an iMessage graphic reading “You asked, we listened. Jonas Brothers collab out Friday.” With its world premiere on iHeartCountry, Rascal Flatts and Jonas Brothers are here with new single “I Dare You.” Written by Nick Jonas, Shay Mooeny (of Dan + Shay), Dewain Whitmore Jr. (“Die For You” by Joji, “Find You” by Nick Jonas), and Tommy English (“High Horse” by Kacey Musgraves), the new single brings country, rock, and pop together.

Alex Warren, “Ordinary”Alex Warren is back with a new single, “Ordinary,” that captures the essence of loving someone who makes life extraordinary. Warren’s ability to translate his emotions into lyrics and melodies is what makes his music resonate with millions around the world. He certainly has a knack for creating a catchy chorus that will have listeners hooked and that is no different for this new single: “The angels up in the clouds are jealous knowin’ we found / Somethin’ so out of the ordinary / You got me kissin’ the ground of your sanctuary / Shatter me with your touch, oh lord, return me to dust”

– Reagan Denning

——

Madisyn Gifford, “Die Happy” – Madisyn sets a commonplace scene with lines such as, “Dishes in the kitchen sink,” “Laundry hanging on the line,” and “Wearing your white button up tee.” Yet, there is much love found within, as expressed in the choruses of, “You smelt like orange juice and whiskey / Right before I asked you to kiss me / ‘What’s a moment you won’t forget?’ / You say, ‘I think I’m looking right at it.’”

– Christine Sloman

——

Zack Keim, “Better Days” – The album kicks off with “Canyon,” an immediate burst of energy that is inviting and comforting. Its bubbly tone and nostalgic lyrics set the tone for the rest of the record, with a pleasant melody that embraces the listener. “Better Days” soon follows, keeping up the energy while also bringing in a sense of longing in its words, which is the main connecting thread across Battery Lane. Keim’s emotionally charged vocals intertwine with a surprisingly intricate combination of sounds and influences, all working in favor of the storytelling.

– Maria Mata
