Fans were first introduced to Matreya, formerly known as Mason Noise, when he competed on The X Factor in 2015. He made quite the impression, getting into a heated argument with judge Simon Cowell after his performance. Still, the passion and enthusiasm he showed during that argument were traits that helped him connect with audiences outside of the show, as that energy impressed on stages near and far. However, while his star was rising, Matreya was also experiencing loss in his personal life. As he tried to come to terms with the loss, he stepped away from music and turned inward. During that time, he was able to heal and tap into his creative purpose, which brings him to the start of a new chapter in his career.
Matreya invites us into this new chapter with the release of “Eagles.” Here, he reflects on his own transformation, touching on themes of resilience and hope. His soulful vocals flow smoothly between the rhythmic drumbeats, giving us a nice contrast in texture. Meanwhile, Matreya imparts empowering messages through lyrics such as, “I will soar again / Like the eagles / I will fly / Just like the birds.” You can check it out in the video below, which was filmed in the stunning Scottish Highlands.
Telling us more about “Eagles,” Matreya shares,
“‘Eagles’ is a reflection of everything I’ve been through—the grief, the healing, and the lessons I’ve learnt about trusting your path and embracing transformation. It’s about finding one’s courage and inner strength through life’s challenges and discovering one’s unique life purpose.”
“Eagles” comes from Matreya’s debut album, Anchor, due for release later this year. For now, you can listen to the single here.
