The ever so talented Sierra Spirit made her way to Boston for a spectacular show, opening up for David Gray on his U.S tour. This is Sierra’s biggest tour to date and has her seeing some of the biggest rooms she has ever played in which is great to see.
Sierra is a Native American artist and her debut EP Coin Toss touches on her lived experience and cultural background as part of the Native community. She grew up in the Otoe-Missouria tribe and the Keetoowah Band of Cherokees. Her EP is a work of art and one that is full of heartfelt stories, raw lyrics and tender vocals. Sierra’s power is storytelling and it definitely shines through in her music. A lot of her storytelling inspiration is thanks to her grandmother and culture. Sierra’s music focuses a lot on her Oklahoma roots and the struggles of growing up. “American Pie” her newest single is a fantastic one that focuses on a bit of a different side of Sierra. On the meaning of the song she shares, “American Pie is a reflection on the American dream and the uncertainty of this point in time. We all want our own little slice of it but we take what we can get and we take it as it is.”
Sierra is a true rising star and that was ever so evident during her set in Boston to kick off the tour. She truly shined from the moment she took the stage and had the crowds attention and cheers throughout the night. She played a great mix of songs from her discography like “Ghost”, “Easy”, and “Coin Toss” along with her beautiful rendition of Radiohead’s “Creep” to the crowds delight. Overall it was such a delightful night and Sierra is a star in the making. We can’t wait to see what she gets up to next!
