AJR’s Adam Met to release debut book ‘Amplify’ this June

Date:

Fans of the multi-platinum alt-pop band AJR most likely know that the ‘A’ in the band name stands for Adam. Adam is the bass player, but there is more to him that others might not realize. While he was busy touring the world and releasing music, he was also pursuing his PhD in Human Rights Law and Sustainable Development, which he obtained in 2021 – the same year that AJR released OK ORCHESTRA. Needless to say, Adam is devoted to his dreams and knows what to do to turn them into a reality. For instance, he co-founded and serves as Executive Director of Planet Reimagined, a climate research and advocacy nonprofit that develops strategies for change both locally and around the world. He also is an adjunct professor at Columbia University, teaching about climate campaigning and policy.

Between teaching, advocating, and performing, Adam has written a book. Available June 3, Amplify: How to Use the Power of Connection to Engage, Take Action, and Build a Better World, will inform readers how to create solid movements for causes that matter the most to them. It pulls from the way that musicians build fanbases, as bands and artists can have some of the most devoted fans in the world. Their support can take a band, such as AJR, from performing on street corners to selling out arenas.

With Heather Landy, an award-winning journalist and senior editor at Bloomberg News, Adam explains the strategies and tactics that can bring your ideas to life. Whether you are looking to engage an audience or work with other organizations, Amplify lays out how to make that happen. It also features interviews with some of today’s most successful researchers, developers, and thinkers, such as Christiana Figueres (Paris Climate Agreement architect), David Hogg (co-founder, March for Our Lives), and Bill Nye (scientist, entertainer). In the end, readers will have more of an understanding of how to effectively spread their ideas and inspire change.

Amplify: How to Use the Power of Connection to Engage, Take Action, and Build a Better World will be released June 3, 2025. You can pre-order it here.
