SZA shares release date for ‘Lana,’ the deluxe reissue of ‘SOS’

Date:

SZA has officially shared the release date for Lana, the highly anticipated deluxe reissue of her chart-topping album, SOS (2022). The project will be released on Friday, Dec. 20, as revealed in a teaser video shared on social media.

In a video posted yesterday (Dec. 16), actor Ben Stiller dramatically lip-syncs to what is believed to be SZA’s new track, “Drive,” while navigating a rainy night.

SZA revealed that the deluxe album has been in development for over two years. Initially teased as “a whole other album,” it features a collection of outtakes and new songs.

In a recent interview with British Vogue, SZA reflected on her growth through music: “I’m not identifying with my brokenness …Yeah, I experienced cruelty. I have to put it down at some point. Piece by piece, my music is shifting because of that, the lighter I get.”

The album’s title, Lana, continues the personal connection seen with SOS, which was named after one of SZA’s nicknames. She earned the nickname “Lana” at 13, when she considered getting her first name tattooed on her.
