Rising indie rock artist Essy released her newest single, “The High Road,” on Dec. 6. This track is the first release from her upcoming album set to drop next year, and has quickly amassed over 4,000 Spotify streams since its debut on the platform.
“The High Road” is a powerful song of self-discovery filled with themes of coming-of-age and inheriting lessons from parents growing up. With a style similar to Sam Fender and Holly Humberstone, Essy blends live drums with gritty guitars and shimmering synths to bring listeners on a powerful sonic and emotional journey.
Upon the song’s release, Essy posted on Instagram:
“Thank you to @bhallpaddock and company for getting this one over the finish line. Special love to @spartacus1960 for letting us in your space and for ripping these live drums. Mixing and mastering to @the.dustymoon and @bhallpaddock. Visuals and more to come by the greatest @jimmyfisco. Wrote this one only a few months and have loved it since. SEE YOU TONIGHT NASHVILLE!”
