Alex Warren is having a breakout year. Since the success of his hit single, “Before You Leave Me,” he has worked tirelessly to create and release new music that has built him a fanbase of over 14 million listeners on Spotify and amassed over 178 million streams. For his new song, he worked with Joe Jonas to create a fresh version of his hit “Burning Down,” which focuses on the end of a relationship.
“Burning Down” is about knowing when to leave a toxic environment. Through strong vocals and steady percussion, Alex Warren and Joe Jonas reflect on a messy breakup. Lyrics such as “Used to tell me you’d pray for me / You were praying for my downfall / You were digging a grave for me / We were sharing the same four walls” highlight the loss of trust between these ex-partners.
Their duets on the verses of the track give it a renewed energy, as both artists were excited about this collaboration. Alex Warren elaborates:
“I’m beyond excited to release a new version of ‘Burning Down’ with Joe Jonas. It’s surreal that someone I grew up admiring connected with my music so deeply that they wanted to collaborate on a new take on the song. Working with Joe has been amazing—not only because he’s incredibly talented and added a whole new layer to the record but also because he’s such an incredible human. We click both in and out of the studio, making this collaboration even more special to me.”
Joe Jonas shares this sentiment, sharing more about his take on the song:
“I’m excited to be collaborating on a newer rendition of ‘Burning Down’ with Alex. His voice and songwriting are incredible. It’s been exciting to watch such a talented artist grow and come into his own. ‘Burning Down’ was already such a powerhouse song, so when he asked me to be a part of this version, I was honored.”
