A pop punk powerhouse in Boston with State Champs

Date:

State Champs are a band synonymous with the resurgence of modern pop-punk, and their recent show only cemented their reputation as genre heavyweights. With their infectious energy, dynamic stage presence, and anthemic tracks, the New York-based band made their return to Boston at The House of Blues and delivered a night that many will not forget.

Before State Champs would grace the stage, the night opened up with three great performances from the openers including Daisy Grenade, Meet Me @ The Altar, and Knuckle Puck. All three of those bands were killer and they really set the tone for the night and got the crowd up and moving.

It was then time for State Champs to come out to the roar of the crowd. The show kicked off with the explosive “Silver Cloud,” off of their new self titled album that was released this year. Lead singer Derek DiScanio’s commanding vocals soared effortlessly over the track, setting the tone for a performance that never once lost momentum. His ability to interact with the audience, whether leading sing-alongs or hyping up the pit, it really made the room feel alive and electric.

The band’s chemistry on stage was a highlight. Guitarist Tyler Szalkowski and Bassist Ryan Scott Graham traded riffs and melodies with an effortless synergy, while drummer Evan Ambrosio provided a thunderous rhythm section that kept the energy soaring. The band as a whole is a blast to watch and always keeps the energy alive the entire night with the crowd.

Fans were eager to hear new songs from State Champs, including “Hell of it”, “Tight Grip”, and “Light Blue”. Their setlist was a superb mixture of songs from all five of their albums including hits from The Finer Things like “Elevated”, “Hard to Please”, and “Remedy”. For “Around The World and Back” the band brought out Daisy Grenade to sing a verse which was awesome to see and the crowd was loving every moment of it.

State Champs always deliver such a stellar high energy show each time they are in Boston. Their ability to combine explosive energy with genuine connection makes them a must-see act for any pop-punk fan.
