James Arthur is set to take his fans on a deeply personal musical journey with the release of his highly anticipated sixth studio album, PISCES, on March 21, 2025.
With the release of his emotionally charged single “ADHD” in November 2024, Arthur continues his exploration of vulnerability, mental health, and self-acceptance. However, PISCES offers a fresh twist with a more experimental sound. Musically, PISCES is a bold departure from the big, raspy ballads like the cover of Shontelle’s “Impossible” and “Say You Won’t Let Go” Arthur is known for. Instead, the album is softer and far more atmospheric. Arthur explains, “I wanted this album to have a different feel from anything I’ve done before. People expect big, emotional ballads with raspy vocals, but I like to think I’ve got a few strings to my bow. It was as simple as wanting to approach the songs and my vocal delivery in a more gentle way and create dreamy sounds.”
Arthur collaborated with many people to create this forthcoming record. He wrote 95% of the record with longtime collaborator Steve Solomon, alongside a team of talented musicians. For Arthur, this project is his most personal to date: “The reins are off. I really feel all of these songs are part of me, and they make the hair on the back of my neck stand up.”
Overall, PISCES is about connecting emotionally with his listeners. Arthur concludes, “I wanted to make music that makes people feel something and give fans an insight into who I really am — the ups and downs, the dreams and reality of being a Pisces. The duality is reflected in these songs, and I also wanted to showcase a new side of myself, with new sounds and a deeper layer of vulnerability.”
