adan diaz is no stranger to the music industry. Hailing from Chicago, Illinois, he released his first single “ripped jeans” when he was just a sophomore in high school through the Los Angeles-based label GODMODE. Just over a year later, he released his single “legroom,” which continues to grow in popularity with over 30 million streams.

Since then, adan diaz has grown his artistry through live performances. He has opened for artists such as LAUNDRY DAY, spill tab, Blu DeTiger, Victor Internet, and JAWNY. adan diaz is hungry and ready for more opportunities to show the world his talent. He released his latest EP, ah-dawn, on Nov. 15, which blends teenage angst with young adult introspection as he reflects on love.

Opening with “shake, shake,” we are reintroduced to adan diaz’s unique songwriting. Through steady percussion and deep bass, diaz figures out whether his crush is the right person for him. These clever lyrics and catchy melodies are sure to catch the listener’s attention and are seen throughout ah-dawn on tracks such as “jsyk” and “why can’t it be me.”

While diaz shows his lightheartedness on these tracks, he also is willing to open up. In “the middle,” he expresses the emotional turmoil he has experienced since his breakup. His emotional lyrics combined with supportive guitar create a safe atmosphere in which he can share his deepest feelings without fear of judgement. This vulnerability is seen on tracks such as “jerk x2” and “run it all back.”

Closing with “young picasso,” we truly see the creativity of adan diaz as a songwriter. Through strong piano and thoughtful lyrics, diaz promises his crush that he will give them the world. While he has playfully proven himself as a worthy partner, “young picasso” truly allows him to be open and vulnerable to this person he cares so deeply for. This track truly encapsulates the growth adan diaz shows from beginning to end of ah-dawn.

ah-dawn is truly a lesson in authenticity. From the playfulness of “run it back” to the thoughtfulness of “young picasso,” adan diaz proves that the right person will come to you eventually. Instead of bending himself to the desires of others, adan diaz highlights the qualities that would make him a great partner and focuses on areas of growth. We see the confidence of adan diaz grow throughout ah-dawn as he encourages listeners to be themselves no matter what.
