Michael Kiwanuka’s captivating hometown show

Date:

In the week after Michael Kiwanuka‘s new album Small Changes reached number 2 in the UK chart, a short run of intimate ‘album outstore’ performances ended with a hometown date at The 1865 in Southampton, UK, hosted by Vinilo Record Store. An afternoon and evening show, both with sold out crowds, transfixed by Michael and his band, taking refuge in his sweet soul music.

Michael is humble, open and funny as he chats about the creation of the new album, with not a hint of ego. It’s the same with his music, quietly perfect, giving a real sense of joy to be in the room. The nine song set includes five from the new album, including the title track and the beautiful “Floating Parade,” alongside much loved older work including his joyous 2012 song “Home Again.”

Michael Kiwanuka is on tour across Europe and the UK through February and March 2025.
