Melodic Music Monday: December 2

Date:

Every Monday, we bring you a playlist filled with new tracks the Melodic staff has been listening to on repeat. Hear some of our latest obsessions below:

Shawn Mendes, “Nobody Knows” – A song that reminds me of an open mic night (in the best possible way) is track four, “Nobody Knows”. Full of references to Shakespeare and the Greek story of Icarus, this song asks: What happens to love when it’s not quite enough? “Nobody Knows” was also released as a single and performed live at the 2024 MTV VMAs, where it really had the chance to shine with a full live band.

Lenn, “older sister” – “older sister” is about wanting the guidance of an older sibling. Through strong vocals and layered percussion, Lenn wishes she had the comfort and support of someone older than her. With the unpredictability of life, Lenn wishes she had someone to turn to for encouragement and wisdom as she navigates the unknown ahead, such as an older sister.

– Emma Celenza

——

Lewis Fitzgerald, “Easy” While the song’s title contrasts the complexity of his emotions, the singer yearns for the “easy” life, such as living comfortably without having to worry about any of his difficulties. Ultimately, he wants to “give the world to the ones who gave [him his] life,” while shouting out the ones who have long passed, claiming, “we do this all for you.”

– Kelly Carciente

——

Col3man, “Sober” “Sober” is all about finding clarity in relationships, whether it’s navigating tough conversations or sharing one last peaceful moment before moving on. Written in 2019 and finally polished off this year (thanks to fans clamoring for more from his viral Song from Scratch TikTok series), “Sober” is proof that some songs are worth the wait.
