Frances Whitney reflects on a breakup in new song “Something I Wanted”

Date:

Frances Whitney is a jack of all trades, but she has always been obsessed with music. After retiring from professional volleyball, she poured her strength into developing her identity as a singer-songwriter, which is inspired by Los Angeles’ 70s rockstars and the modern indie landscape. Her new song “Something I Wanted” focuses on the aftermath of a breakup.

“Something I Wanted” is about reflecting on a past partnership. Through soft guitar and strong vocals, Frances Whitney considers how her life has changed since splitting up with her old partner. Lyrics such as, “And I think I’m finally learning now / That no good love tastes like pain / And losing yourself’s not a price worth paying,” show that Frances Whitney is better off without this source of negative energy in her life.
