It has been a loud and exciting year for rising alt-pop artist Chloe Star, who has unleashed her powerful charisma and edgy attitude in various singles since January. After releasing “Happy Place” and “Wasted Youth” quite early on in the year, she took things a step further and dropped her debut EP, the bed i lie in, in May. The five-track project built on her outspoken attitude and flaunted her genre-bending sound, giving fans a collection of songs that they could rage, cry, or scream along to in a time of need. Most recently, Chloe dropped “FMIF,” a gritty anthem about throwing caution to the wind and embracing what may follow. But sometimes, what may follow might now be what you expect, and she explains this in her new single, “Stand The Silence.”
On “Stand The Silence,” Chloe deviates from her typically bold style and sound and taps into her quieter, more vulnerable side. To the earnest strums of a guitar, she realizes just how lonely she feels when she returns home from tour. All of the energy and the thrill of performing on stage is suddenly gone, leaving her to rectify her feelings. She observes, “I could get sober and I could get clean / I could be sweet or I could be mean / I can do it all, but I can’t stand the silence,” and asks, “Who am I when I’m alone? / Why does my house not feel like home?”
About the single, Chloe shares,
“‘Stand The Silence’ is about the loneliness that sets in when the rush and energy of everything subsides and you’re left alone with your thoughts and demons.”
