Brooke Taylor’s new single “I Know Nothing” combines pop rock with heartfelt betrayal

Date:

Pop rock artist Brooke Taylor has released yet another anthem with her newest single “I Know Nothing.” From electrifying synths to acoustics, this song holds something for all types of music lovers. The theme of the song is also very introspective, covering how you fall for a version of someone that completely deceived you.

Lyrically, the song feels like traditional pop with an angsty melody. The lyrics are composed in the format of verse – chorus – verse – chorus, giving the audience time to catch onto the lyrics and sing along after the first listen. But what stands out is that at the end the chorus, an acoustic melody sets the stage for a more heartfelt message through the lyrics “Guess I know nothing at all / just know I meant well / I’m not a pawn in the game, don’t put me on a shelf / One day you’ll get over yourself / But for now you don’t know nothing else.”

The musical composition of the song starts with a tasteful synth to the strums of an acoustic guitar. The pulsing percussion also helps build that climax in the song all the way to the bridge, giving the song an exciting edge. Her tonal quality is also incredibly rich; each note is crisp with a lot of power. She gives reminiscence the other alt pop girls in the genre like Tate McRae and Tove Lo.

Overall, Taylor put out an incredible vocal performance with this single along with intentional musical composition that pulls it together. The song is versatile in occasion but authentic to her artistry and it will be apparent to many.
