Over the summer, we were treated to the bittersweet sounds of closure and clarity on Boy In Space’s Copium EP. The project featured five songs that dove into topics like love, heartbreak, and acceptance, with Boy In Space trying to come to terms with these feelings. It was a way for the Swedish pop artist to cope, as he was able to release all he held inside with the world. Since then, he has released “Dancing On Dynamite,” an expressive and cathartic track that continues to build on the newfound pop sound that Boy In Space presented on his EP. He now follows up the single with the release of “Too Much To Lose,” which has been described as “one of his strongest songs to date” by the press.
On “Too Much To Lose,” Boy In Space grapples with his desires. He presents listeners with a story of two lovers who seem perfect for each other but could risk losing it all if they ended up together. The forward-moving grooves, lively pop beats, and captivating melodies set a charming scene as Boy In Space sings, “There you are just spinning around me / In that brand new dress / Eyes like brandy, knew she could have the / Heart beneath my chest.” As much as we want to get lost in the beauty of his words, the notion of doing so is destroyed as he drops the line, “We got too much to lose.” In the end, he is left wondering whether or not to make a move, closing the track with, “‘Taxi, take me home / I should be alone / Should I stay instead?”
About “Too Much To Lose,” Boy In Space shares,
“‘Too Much To Lose’ talks about the sensation of wanting someone you’ve been with but knowing it would just make things so much worse if you would cross that line. And what it’s like dealing with that, going back and forth in your own head.”
You can listen to “Too Much To Lose” on platforms like Apple Music, SoundCloud, and Spotify.
