Walk On Mars calls out a “Fraud” on her newest single

Date:

Pop punk artist Walk On Mars has released her second single of 2024 “Fraud.” Mary Jo Swank, the vocalist behind Walk On Mars, is now pursuing her own musical vision, having released her first single as an independent artist, “Voodoo Barbie.” She follows it up with this recent single, continuing to explore and solidify her creative vision and abilities. The sharp percussion is poignant, seeping with emotion. The themes of the song clearly cover having misplaced your trust and navigating that journey. It’s not just exploring misplaced trust in romantic partners, but misplaced trust all around, which is a lesson most can relate to.

Musically, the song is very angsty and high energy. It immediately opens with an electric guitar melody followed by the percussion of the drums. The fast tempo does a great job of inviting the listener to move to the infectious beat. And overall the composition complements the lyrical content of the song.

The lyrics are sung sharply, with no regret in Swank’s tone. The lyrics “Why should I save what’s left of us / Why should I stop what’s coming / When do I say enough’s enough” specifically convey that unapologetic tone of the track. Speaking to themes of misplacing trust and learning when you’ve given too many chances is a universal journey for many.

Overall, the song is one that’s true to that punk rock sound that so many appreciate within the genre. Walk On Mars continues to prove her creativity and talent through the composition of her songs, and this new journey for her is one many are excited to follow.
