Melodic Music Monday: October 28

Date:

Every Monday, we bring you a playlist filled with new tracks the Melodic staff has been listening to on repeat. Hear some of our latest obsessions below:

Beach Weather, “Stardust” Closing out the album is “Stardust” the most lyrically compelling and the longest track on the album at over 5 minutes which is impressive in itself. There’s a very unique delivery as they close out the album with this track and it’s not seen anywhere else on the project. Regardless that it is a longer than average song it’s so well composed that there’s seamless transitions within the composition that truly keeps the listener engaged in every second.

THE DRIVER ERA, “Don’t Walk Away” – The duo’s latest single “Don’t Walk Away” is a punchy and funky tale of captivation that’s fit for a cool fall drive with the windows down. The duo doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but manages to still distill their longing down to a danceable cut that at least offers groove, putter and a bit of pomp.

Magic City Hippies, “Enemies” – “Enemies” is a brooding, electric pop track that feels like the perfect soundtrack for breaking up and then escaping on a jet ski into a Miami sunset. The song explores themes of passion, unpredictability and the fine line between love and conflict, where intimacy can turn into rivalry, and vice versa. The band captures this sentiment with the lyrics, “There’s a lot of ways / To lose / It’s the lottery.”

– Clare Gehlich

Rosie Darling, “This Is Me Letting You Go” – An encouraging single about healing and closure, “This Is Me Letting You Go” serves as a fitting anthem for those going through a breakup. Throughout the stripped-back indie pop track, Rosie Darling attempts to make peace with heartbreak. She sings, “Been trying not to think about you / And I hate that I do sometimes,” revealing that it is never easy to move forward. Yet, she finds a way to justify the situation, admitting, “But I am who I am and you are who you are / I guess that’s all we ever were,” and asking, “Who cares what could’ve been if it’s already over?”
