Comprised of Nick Santino (A Rocket To The Moon), Sean Silverman (The Technicolors), and Reeve Powers, indie powerhouse Beach Weather released their highly anticipated sophomore album Melt via Arista Records. The band’s first album Pineapple Sunrise led them into stardom amongst the indie scene, and after a two year hiatus, the band is now ready to showcase their evolution.

The album is comprised of 12 songs and kicks off with “Dessert Disco,” a slower tempo jam packed with synth. As the shortest song on the album, the slower introduction builds perfectly for the second, and title-track, “Melt”. The mid tempo song truly embodies Beach Weather’s sound as a collective–that indie rock sound with an angsty guitar solo and headstrong lyrics that repeated, “I just want to melt for you.”

The third track “ High in Low Places ” holds an interesting dynamic as it initially opens with a more whispered vocal tone that then builds into a loud electric beat. There’s a seamless switch in tempos throughout the song slipping in and out bound to hold the listener’s attention. Following next, “Fake Nice” has candid lyrics and an acoustic element within the rhythmic drums. The lyrics have a sense of relief being able to communicate that you’re simply at your limit. “I’m sick of being sorry / I spaced out what you’re saying.”

Hardcore Romance ” immediately and inevitably gets stuck in your head. The catchy beat mixed with the heavy synth and passionate lyrics are a recipe for a hit song. Next to this “Nightcrawler” has a dreamy feeling similar to many of the beloved indie bands in the same genre. There’s a familiarity in this song I’m sure fans will appreciate, along with a danceable melody.

Hottest Summer on Record ,” released back in July, stands out amongst the rest of the lyrics as they vividly paint a past relationship you still look back on with no regret. Filled with sizzling vocals, sweet melodies, and full downbeats, the track captures the essence of a hot summer’s day.

Moving to the grittier side of the album, “Brain Dead”’s infectious synth driven percussion pulls you in, while “Paranormal Activity” is the opposite, as it singles itself out on the album with a slower and relatively angst free track showing the duality in musical ability that the band holds.

To ramp the energy back up “Clueless” comes in hot and quick led heavily by the guitar melody.  Closing out the album is “Stardust” the most lyrically compelling and the longest track on the album at over 5 minutes which is impressive in itself. There’s a very unique delivery as they close out the album with this track and it’s not seen anywhere else on the project. Regardless that it is a longer than average song it’s so well composed that there’s seamless transitions within the composition that truly keeps the listener engaged in every second.

Along with the long awaited album, the band will be heading out on their Will Make You… Melt Tour around the US and UK with some shows having already sold out.
