Lontalius explains diving head first in love with “casualty”

Date:

The 23-year-old singer-songwriter producer Lontalius is a force in the alternative space. His new single “casualty” comes to add to his extensive discography of three EPs and two albums. This track specifically, while it has a more alternative melody, also has a very intricate composition. The percussion, while simpler, allows the listener to focus on the lyrics.

The lyrics in the song are heartfelt. His soft coo-like singing makes the track feel intimate and personal. The listener can feel how every word he’s singing truly resonates as there’s a lot of emotion behind his way of storytelling in his writing. The song goes “You got me so excited / like loving unrequited / I’ve become your casualty.” The underlying themes seem to discuss unrequited love where you’re ready to jump head first and not look back, therefore becoming the casualty in that process.

The melody is on the simpler side with the track but it works. You don’t need the overdone percussion and electric guitar riff in this song because his vocals add the depth that the musical composition doesn’t immediately stand out for having. Having a stronger calling within the lyrics as opposed to the melody creates the perfect balance. Being able to create this type of song overall enhances the musical resonance and solidifies that Lontalius is a seasoned artist.
