Melodic Music Monday: October 14

Date:

Every Monday, we bring you a playlist filled with new tracks the Melodic staff has been listening to on repeat. Hear some of our latest obsessions below:

The Kid LAROI, “APEROL SPRITZ” – “After months of anticipation, The Kid LAROI has finally released his eagerly awaited single, “APEROL SPRITZ”. Fans have been buzzing for weeks for the release of the track, thanks to the constant snippets on TikTok. As these snippets flooded social media, the question on everyone’s mind was: who is this song about?”

– Victoria Goodwin

Genevieve Stokes, “How Things End” “How Things End” is a reflection on the impact of relationships. Through steady percussion and soft piano, Stokes shares about a life-changing relationship that has left her feeling hollow since their separation. While this feeling stings and she once again looks for purpose, she openly shares about this display of love that she can look back with a mix of fondness and sadness.

– Emma Celenza

Lake Drive, “Overrated”“Overrated” is a standout track on the EP, as it explores the idea that someone who seems so perfect on the outside can actually just be overrated and overhyped. “I’m so scared of girls like you / Pretty faces, red tattoos / I’m so scared of what I’ll lose / But your love your love your love is overrated.” Radio ready track, “It’s Gonna Rain”, delivers another sing-along hook that delivers a punch. “I thought we could pretend / That we could still be friends / But I’m holding onto this / The first night that we shared a kiss / It’s gonna rain, its gonna rain on me.”

– Reagan Denning

——

Kylie Spence, “Shoebox” – The song stands out in Kylie Spence’s discography as one that is steady in its tone, shifting the focus away from the instrumentation and more on her wavering voice to indicate the bruised emotions she faces. With a sound similar to Gracie Abrams, Chelsea Cutler and Maisie Peters, “Shoebox” is a delicate and heartfelt track worth checking out from her newest debut album, Everything and Nothing.
