Monotronic helps you escape with “Looking Away”

Date:

Monotronic is a unique band based in NYC. The band is made up of musicians with different artistic styles best described as musical chameleons truly blending into multiple genres. The indie/alternative/electronic/pop band just released their newest single “Looking Away” in correlation to the EP Looking Away. This is seemingly a taste of their upcoming album as the first three songs on the EP will be part of that project, as well.

The track’s melody is infused with a truly energetic sound. The drums aren’t overpowering in combination with the guitar and synths, but most of all, nothing takes away from the vocals. They added a sort of distortion to the voice to make it sound as if it was coming from a megaphone in the very start, which catches the listener slightly off guard but immediately hooks you in.

In the lyrics, there’s a sense of avoidance. Some of the words specifically seem to mirror each other. The contrasts between the lyrics and music also make more sense when put together, as you have really fun, bright sounds paired with a story about looking away and moving on. It makes the listener feel as if they are running away with the lyrics.

The overall sound has a wide variety of points that will interest a large group of listeners. The versatility within the track is going to attract fans of multiple genres. This is one of Monotronic’s many strengths, one that will prove to help captivate new and old fans alike.
