Los Angeles based duo Sleek Teeth are on the rise with their darkly electric, self-titled debut EP Sleek Teeth. The five track collection explores themes of isolation, darkness, and mystery for a sonic journey that keeps you guessing the whole way through. Blending elements of darkwave, synthpop, and EDM, Sleek Teeth is a refreshingly infectious project that is both unexpected and iconic.
Sleek Teeth lures you in with haunting hooks, industrial beats, and breathless vocals that fade into the atmosphere. Opening track “Operating” sets the tempo with a feverish frenzy of electronics amidst ruminative echoes that add to the air of illusion. “Powerless” is an enticing blend of hard-hitting beats and dynamic vocals that offer insight on surrendering to a force greater than yourself. Sleek Teeth is a riveting saga that forges through the unknown with cataclysmic sonics and surreal vocals.
Revealing more on the project, Sleek Teeth shares, “It wasn’t a conscious decision, but there are threads of undefined surroundings and unknown destinations woven throughout the EP. There’s a sense of mystery, like not knowing what’s out there in the dark, but if you want to move forward you have to make that leap and deal with whatever comes. The songs aren’t so much an attempt to come up with answers as they are a raw expression of the struggle itself, and we think there’s a kind of resolution to be found in that.”
Sleek Teeth is riding high on the momentum of their powerful debut single and music video “Gone”. The duo is set to perform at Los Angeles based darkwave festival Substance this November. Sleek Teeth is their latest release.
