Jinjer Shreds the Stage with Unrelenting Force at Atlanta’s Buckhead Theatre

Date:

Jinjer’s 2024 North American tour was nothing short of electrifying, delivering an experience that redefined the boundaries of modern metal. Supported by the progressive deathcore powerhouse Born of Osiris and the J-metalcore prodigies Hanabie, this tour was an intense showcase of technicality, aggression, and sheer artistry.

Opening the night up, Born of Osiris brought a heavy, technical sound to the evening, seamlessly transitioning from crushing breakdowns to melodic, atmospheric synth passages. As the stage was immersed in deep, moody blues and intense strobes, their performance was crafted as a masterclass in progressive deathcore, with tracks like “Bow Down” and “Angel or Alien” captivated the audience with their complexity and intensity. The band’s interplay between intricate guitar work and rhythmic precision created an immersive hardcore experience that had fans headbanging and moshing from start to finish.

Hanabie, a rising force in J-metalcore, took the stage next with an energetic and over the top performance. Their unique fusion of metalcore with J-pop sensibilities brought a refreshing contrast to the evening, as they took the stage in Lolita fashion that sparked a sharp contrast to the sound that erupted on stage. Their set was fun, engaging, and filled with infectious energy. Songs like “Neet Game” and “Metamorphose!” showcased their playful but aggressive sound, blending kawaii vocals with heavy riffs in a way that both surprises and delights. Despite being relatively new to the North American scene, Hanabie quickly won over the crowd as the crowd consistently crowd surfed over the top and moshed, keeping the energy high for an already night of diverse metal.

Jinjer took the stage with their commanding presence, led by the charismatic Tatiana Shmaylyuk, whose vocal range is nothing short of astonishing. From clean, haunting melodies to ferocious growls, her dynamic delivery left the audience in awe. Jinjer’s intense deliver of new and old hits such as their new single “Rogue” and fan favorite “Call me a Symbol” showcased their technical mastery, with intricate bass lines from Eugene Abdukhanov and mind-blowing drumming from Vlad Ulasevich. Fans were treated to new material that blends their signature groove-laden metalcore with progressive elements, offering a fresh but familiar experience. The energy in the crowd was just as insane as the energy on stage, and Tatiana’s connection with the audience made each moment feel personable despite the size of the venue or crowd. Jinjer is like an expensive bourbon, they only get better with time as every tour they only improve on the mastery of their unique sound and stage presence.

Jinjer’s 2024 North American tour with Born of Osiris and Hanabie was a testament to the growing diversity and evolution of the metal scene. Each band brought something unique to the stage, making this one of the most exciting tours of the year. Fans were left with their hearts pounding, ears ringing, and a deep appreciation for the sheer talent and passion on display. Whether you’re a longtime metal fan or new to the genre, this tour was a must-see event that will be talked about for years to come.
