Born and raised in New York, artist Will Sass makes his music debut with his single “Alicia.” It’s been a long time in the making finding a way to merge genres in a way that’s refreshing but still authentic to him. This track is a heavy indietronica song. It’s fun and speaks to the body the way a dance pop song should. His engineering and production background are definitely noticeable in this track with the notable precision and fade within each beat.
Interestingly enough, while this is his first release of original music, he wanted this to be a collaboration with Alvin Risk, a fellow producer and friend. The melody of the music is very entrancing and opens with an ethereal synth that grows louder and louder into the lyrics “Hey Alicia.” The same opening beat stays throughout the opening lyrics but is lowered and then tethered into the dance beat. It’s very intricate in its composition.
While the song is not lyrically dense, the intro to the chorus is enough to give the listener an idea into the theme of the song. The focal points of the song were definitely the dance pop and electronic beats but it works. Having less lyrics makes it a song that’s easily digestible to feel from head to toe. The melody of the track is bound to bring in audiences of many genres because the song bluntly is a mix of genres in the best way possible.
