There are very few artists who have been able to capture the admiration of their audience quite likeย Alex Warren. Not only does the singer-songwriter continue to showcase his talents, but he inspires those who have been following along with his journey. Warren went from being homeless and sleeping in friends’ cars to releasing his long awaited debut album, You’ll Be Alright, Kid (Chapter 1), and buildingย a community of over 26 million people and has over 595 million total career streams.
“For the longest time, people would ask me, if given the opportunity, what would you say to your younger self? And I never knew what to say. I never took the time to sit down and process all the things that have happened to me. This album is me pouring myself out to all of you. I am who I am because of the things I’ve gone through and write about, and if someone were to ask me who I am, I would show them this album. I feel like I’m growing up with my audience, and it is truly something I would tell my younger self, you’ll be alright kid.”
Starting out with a bang and proven fan favorite, “Burning Down” takes us on a journey through breaking free from a toxic relationship. Warren reminds us that kindness should never be mistaken for weakness and sometimes you have to stand tall to ensure that no one takes advantage all you’ve shown them. The single has only been out for a week and has gained serious traction with over 6 million streams on Spotify and more than 157 million views on TikTok. Along side the album release of the track, Warren has also released “Burning Down (Alex’s Version).”
Warren pours his heart intoย “Carry You Home,”ย a beautifully written track dedicated to his wife, Kouvr. Every lyric feels like a love letter set to music. Next, “Troubled Waters” shows a vulnerable side of the musician, while reflecting on personal battles and feeling like he’s lost hope in his toughest storm. If you remain strong and persevere in those dark moments, there is hope after the storm. The track is accompanied by a music video, which features his recent bride, who happens to be the one to save him after he gets lost in a storm.
As you continue on through the album, “Heaven Without You” and “Save You a Set” touch on themes of grief. Warren wrote “Heaven Without You” from the perspective that he leaves this life before his wife: “But if I go first / And my angel is still on earth / I’ll wait outside the gates til you’re there too” and in “Save You a Seat,” Warren touches on the loss of loved ones who left too soon.
Closing out the album comes the title track,ย “You’ll Be Alright, Kid.” An inspiring track that serves as a reminder to give yourself grace in times of struggle, the perfect closing out track for the album. “I wish I had the number to my younger self / I’d pick up the phone and say your only twelve”
