Melodic Music Monday: September 23

Date:

Every Monday, we bring you a playlist filled with new tracks the Melodic staff has been listening to on repeat. Hear some of our latest obsessions below:

Bo Staloch, “Santa Fe” – With “Santa Fe,” Bo gives us a heartfelt anthem about letting go. Co-written with Sam Westhoff, who also produced the track, the song plays out like a farewell to the things in life that keep you down. Throughout, Bo drops lines like “Sick and tired of faking,” “Been losing sleep most every night,” “Can’t recall everything I said,” and “Now I’m running on fumes,” painting a defeated picture. Still, there is such strength and conviction in his vocals to move on from this pattern, to embrace a new way of living. There is a desire in there that is not driven by anger and frustration, which is captured in the warm and elegant feel of the harmonies, beats, and melodies.

Bermuda Search Party, “End of the Road” Overall, the track stands out within its genre with its instrumental composition. The lyricism was purposefully written to be dissected and to give the depth of the ride that struggling with addiction and recovery can be. The bright sound the song holds truly enhances the emotional weight, and opens the conversation to a very stigmatized topic.

– Ashley Cardenas

Alex Warren, “Burning Down” – Warren’s newest single is an an anthem for those who were able to break free from a toxic relationship. It is a reminder to never let someone tale advantage of the kindness you have shown them. “Said I’m the one who’s wanted / For all the fire you started / You knew the house was burning down / I had to get out”

– Reagan Denning

——

dearest, “Everything” – dearest’s attention to detail, across both her personal life and her creative process, reflects the birth of “Everything.” While emulating the cohesion in its instrumentation or the literal take away from her lyrics, the single came about from the songwriter’s passion for the developmental process of music as an art form. Remarkably, the single was written, produced, and sung by dearest. Her admiration for the craft acts as a vessel for her emotional expression, communicating her vulnerability.
