It was only last year when singer-songwriter Bo Staloch released his debut single, “Springtime Red Tulips.” Since its release, it has accumulated over one million streams on Spotify alone and has drawn in praise from some of Bo’s biggest idols and inspirations in the music scene. Listeners gravitate towards Bo’s classic Americana style, which focuses on vivid storytelling and emotional soundscapes. His subsequent singles like “Your Eyes Tell Stories,” “Down The Line,” and “Birds of San Francisco” have further captivated the hearts and minds of many, setting him up for tours with artists like Hans Williams and Flores. This fall, he will join Wyatt Flores and Richy Mitch & The Coal Miners as they perform at notable venues across the U.S. Sadly, Bo will not be making a stop in Santa Fe, but that doesn’t stop him from mentioning the city in his new single.
With “Santa Fe,” Bo gives us a heartfelt anthem about letting go. Co-written with Sam Westhoff, who also produced the track, the song plays out like a farewell to the things in life that keep you down. Throughout, Bo drops lines like “Sick and tired of faking,” “Been losing sleep most every night,” “Can’t recall everything I said,” and “Now I’m running on fumes,” painting a defeated picture. Still, there is such strength and conviction in his vocals to move on from this pattern, to embrace a new way of living. There is a desire in there that is not driven by anger and frustration, which is captured in the warm and elegant feel of the harmonies, beats, and melodies. About “Santa Fe,” Bo explains,
“‘Santa Fe’ urges you to let go of fear. It’s a push to let go of anxiety about something that isn’t even there. This song is the first to embody me as a person. Something that evokes a smile or a tap of the foot. It’s a message to everyone to lower your shoulders, to smile, to dance, to sing, to yell, to yell louder, hold each other’s hands, skip a few skips, skip a few stones, get stoned, just let go.”
You can listen to “Santa Fe” on platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and SoundCloud.
