Pop icon and rapper Nicki Minaj has announced that she will replace her anticipated PF2: Gag City Reloaded deluxe album with a brand-new project, Pink Friday 3.
Originally, Minaj planned to release the deluxe edition of Pink Friday 2: Gag City Reloaded on Friday, Sept. 13, which was set to include a posthumous feature from Juice Wrld. However, the release never came. Instead, on Sunday, Sept. 15, Minaj explained that she had opted to move forward with Pink Friday 3, although the release date has not yet been confirmed. In her explanation, Minaj emphasized her desire for Pink Friday 2 to stand alone as a complete body of work, adding that incorporating additional tracks felt “sloppy.”
She tweeted, “Instead of doing a DELUXE to Pink Friday 2, I’ve decided to do a brand new album. I’ll still incorporate new songs like #Mamita & [The ‘anxiety’ song] for the remainder of the tour tho… and I’ll announce the new date within the next couple weeks.” Minaj continued to express her excitement for Pink Friday 3, stating that the songs she had recently recorded were “too iconic” to be added to a deluxe edition. “The new music is just too good to be thrown away on a deluxe album,” she added. She is expected to share more information leading up to the official release of Pink Friday 3.
Meanwhile, Minaj has extended the U.S. leg of her Pink Friday 2 World Tour, with upcoming stops in Cleveland, San Diego, St. Louis and Tampa. The tour is set to conclude on Oct. 11, 2024, at the UBS Arena in Queens, NY.
