Music duo Flora Cash is vulnerable in “My Ex Would’ve Left By Now”

Date:

Musical duo Flora Cash, comprised of members Shpresa Lleshaj and Cole Randall, released an emotional and vulnerable track called “My Ex Would’ve Left By Now” on Sept. 5. In their song, they aren’t afraid to reveal what it’s like to feel that you aren’t good enough for someone, especially when your past relationships gave up you on easily.

With lyrics like “Deep down I’m afraid of a good thing” and “I’m sorry that worse than I could be,” listeners can feel what it’s like to not feel good enough. It is hurtful and sweet at the same time when listeners hear the lyrics “many times I’ve feared that / you don’t know that you are / beautiful to me” in the bridge. It’s sad that the narrator feels unworthy, but it’s clear that they love their partner who has patience for them, unlike their exes.

However, Flora Cash gives listeners the space to appreciate how love can endure even when you know you have flaws. At the end of the day, they’ve created a character who acknowledges how patient their significant other is and is willing to recognize how they can become a better person.

Even if you don’t relate to the lyrics, Flora Cash will still hit you in the feelings with their raw voices. The use of guitar plucks and piano chords create a sad melody that evokes emotion.
