Date:

Faye Webster’s sold-out performance at the Fox Theatre in her hometown of Atlanta highlighted her unique ability to blend genres—R&B, country pop, jazz, and even touches of rock—but also transported fans into the dreamy, artistic world she’s cultivated with her latest album, Underdressed for the Symphony.

The stage production was a playful yet striking reflection of the album’s laundry theme. The set featured brightly lit washing machines, shirts strung up on clotheslines, and a massive white T-shirt backdrop that served as a canvas for projections. This unconventional laundromat aesthetic set the tone for an evening that felt like an intimate, whimsical peek into Webster’s mind. The show kicked off with an animated sequence of minions, including a “Faye Minion,” projected onto the giant T-shirt, welcoming the crowd and hushing them as the theater dimmed. The playful animation was a lighthearted touch that endeared the audience from the start.

As the setlist unfolded, Webster’s voice was the true star of the night. Her vocals were so pure and precise that it felt as though she had swallowed her own records. From the jazzy undertones of her tracks to the R&B-laced melodies, Webster’s voice filled every corner of the theater with ease, weaving through each song effortlessly. The setlist showcased her incredible genre-blending style, moving fluidly between soft country pop ballads and more uptempo, jazz-infused tracks.

A standout moment came during the fourth track, “Right Side of My Neck,” when the theater was suddenly filled with bubbles, creating a magical and almost surreal atmosphere. Fans were enchanted, the bubbles adding a tactile layer of whimsy to Webster’s soft, nostalgic melody. It was one of those rare concert moments that felt truly transportive, like the audience had stepped into a dream.

Midway through the set, the energy shifted as special guest Lil Yachty made a surprise appearance, joining Webster on stage for their latest collaboration, “Lego Ring.” The crowd erupted into cheers, the sudden artist reveal sending waves of excitement through the theater. The duo’s chemistry felt so organic and playful as they were so happy to see each other, hyping each other up and finishing the song with a hug.

As the night progressed, the audience grew louder and more engaged, singing along with Webster’s heartfelt lyrics. For the grand finale, Webster performed “Tttttime,” her voice ringing out like a beacon as she thanked the crowd with a heartfelt “THANK YOU ATLANTA.” Though the lights went out, fans stayed rooted in their seats, eagerly anticipating more. Their persistence was rewarded when Webster returned for a two-song encore, performing “Feeling Good Today” and the fan favorite “Kingston.” The entire theater sang along to “Kingston,” their collective voices filling the space in a moment of shared joy and nostalgia.

Faye Webster’s concert at the Fox Theatre was a beautiful fusion of music, art, and emotion—a testament to her growth as an artist and a hometown hero. The night was a masterclass in creating magic on stage, leaving her fans buzzing with excitement long after the final note faded away.
