Date:

The Lumineers are bringing the ambiance of their live concerts right to you with their new upcoming album Live from Wrigley Field. The new live single “Sleep on the Floor” is one of the first tastes to the live album set to be released on Sept. 27th. The folk-rock inspired song is only elevated by the electrifying energy of the crowd for the listener. The live version of “Sleep on the Floor” is a completely new experience as it captures a shared moment created by The Lumineers and their fans resulting in deepening the atmosphere that music can already create within a song.

When the beat opens cheers from the crowd immediately follow, this aspect of the song adds a rather unique element to the listening experience. This layer of the live setting being able to be heard in the recording almost invites the listener to allow themselves to enjoy the track as if they were actually there on Wrigley Field. You can hear the echos in Schultz voice and how the crowd reacts to his change in range and tempo which overall give a sense of rawness to the song.

This concept injects the adrenaline of a live concert experience to the average listener creating a deeper emotional connection with the song. The lyrics are heartfelt and intertwined with the roars from the crowd truly intensifies the tone of the song through each lyric. There was some changes from the original recording to the live recording that add to the authenticity this version presents like the rasp in Schultz voice, the longer pauses in between the chorus to engage the crowd and more intense melodies really are the cherry on top at displaying this song in a new light.
