Surf Trash, “Tappin Into Magic” – The Australia-based band Surf Trash is composed of guitarist Patrick Russel, guitarist Lachlan Jackson, and brothers Andrew Scott, who is the lead vocalist/drummer, and bassist Nicholas Scott. They recently released their new single “Tappin Into Magic,” which is a play on the saying “comparison is the thief of joy.” The song embodies the indie rock essence as soon as it starts.

– Ashley Cardenas

——

Madisyn Gifford, “Fast One” – Containing a pleasant production and a calm spirit, “Fast One” seems like a friendly track on the surface. We are treated to bright guitar riffs, cheerful whistling, and Madisyn’s relaxed vocals, yet the lyrics contain a darkness. Throughout the track, Madisyn vents about a guy who played her. She shares, “You weren’t really hungry for me / You were only bored” and “Stupid girl, always thinking she’s enough / Well, I hope I was at least your favorite flavor of the month.” In the end, she states, “Yeah, you pulled a fast one on me,” disappointed by his trickery.

– Christine Sloman

——

Trev Fischer, “On n On n On” Trev Fischer’s new single “On n On n On” captures the perfect hopeless romantic vibe that many are searching to hear today. Fischer makes this indie-pop teen movie anthem his own with a voice almost identical to ROLE MODEL’s. With its catchy guitar string picking and playful lyrics, “On n On n On” describes the pains of online dating. With a sprinkle of the cello and its funky beat’s backbone, we hear glimpses of Half Moon Baby and Still Woozy.
