Gio Genesis has officially released his third project, Second Nature. The New York native continues to push the boundaries of genre with his unique style, blending R&B, Hip-Hop, Pop, and Drum and Bass into what he calls “Gio-Pop.” Featuring collaborators like Donte Thomas, Tony E, and Tyjhier, Second Nature dropped on July 24, 2024, marking Gio’s first release since 2020.

Melodic Magazine had the privilege of witnessing Gio’s creative energy firsthand during the music video shoot for “Second Nature” (Directed by Liam Morgenstern). Picture this: Gio, donning a handcrafted pair of Angel wings on his shoulders is poking out of the sunroof of a friend’s car as it glides down sunlit upstate New York roads with a camera strapped to the hood. It’s grassroots, it’s raw, and it’s,a perfect display of what makes Gio special—art for the sake of loving the art.

Second Nature offers a glimpse into Gio’s personal growth. “I wanted to get back to the root of my love for music and create a foundation I can build off,” Gio shares. The EP explores introspection and overcoming, with each song accompanied by a visual and a poem, offering fans a truly multi-dimensional experience.

As the EP continues to make waves, expect performances, interviews, and exciting collaborations. At its core, Gio Genesis’ sound remains elusive—a melting pot of influences that refuses to fit into a single box. No artist comparison immediately popped into mind when writing this, and the ones we suggested didn’t feel quite right. Check out Gio’s latest EP. Below. Or his music in general.
