Chicocurlyhead works with Yuna to produce R&B Spanglish song “I’ll Show You”

Date:

Panamanian artist Chicocurlyhead collaborates with singer-songwriter Yuna to produce afrobeat love song “I’ll Show You” which released Sept. 6 through Zarpazo Records, a division of HYBE Latin America. In his single, Chicocurlyhead blends R&B, alt-pop, and hip-hop with a Latin soul. Malaysian-born artist Yuna, also known for her genre-blending style, joins in with a sultry voice to make it even better. Together, the two artists create a diverse song in the R&B genre that listeners will become obsessed with.

Throughout the song, Chico seamlessly sings in English and Spanish with passion. In his chorus, he sings “Si tú me llamas I will not ignore you / I wanted you to see how much I love you / I promise to adore you” to prove his devotion. In another verse, he sings “Si me pide que yo me quede ma’, me quedo contigo / Dice que sí, quédate un ratito ma’ / Porfa no me deje a mi solito acá” which roughly translates to “If you ask me to stay with you more, I will be with you / He says yes, stay a little while longer / Please don’t leave me alone here.” With sweet lyrics like that, Chico creates a beautiful song about wanting to show anyone – lover, family, or friend – that you care and want to support them.

Chicocurlyhead elaborates:

“This song was really about showing up for someone when they need you … I was singing to my son while I was showering him and the hook for this song came out while I was freestyling. To have Yuna join me on the track made the song even better.”

Yuna, who has worked with artists like Usher, Pharrell, Tyler, the Creator, and G-Eazy, adds a mesmerizing flow when she joins in and starts singing “Show you, eh eh.” In the second verse, she cleverly uses space references to continue the song’s theme of dedication when she sings “Like a shining star, I’m here / You’re the sunrise and I’m the moon, no one else could compare to you.” A jazzy saxophone riff invites listeners to bop along and take in the skillful songwriting of Chicocurlyhead as the song ends.

Chicocurlyhead proves himself to be a worthy rising star. In July, he received the 2024 Latin Alternative Music Conference Discovery Award, which has previously been awarded to other talented artists like Nathy Peluso, Carla Morrison, and Buscabulla. Over the summer, he released his EP Neverending Roadtrip. Be sure to follow Chicocurlyhead and Yuna as they make names for themselves in the music industry.
