Blu Jay emotionally sings that “Money Power Sex Fame” doesn’t stop pain

Date:

Half-American, half-Brazilian artist Blu Jay released her alternative pop song “Money Power Sex Fame” on Sept. 5 to open up to listeners that no level of success numbs the pain you feel after a relationship ends. With breathy vocals, the singer-songwriter makes listeners feel her hurt.

Blu Jay captivates listeners at the beginning of her song by flaunting her pretty vocals. As the singer approaches the chorus, the bass builds up to reflect a transition from sadness over the loss of a relationship to frustration over life’s luxuries not making her feel better. On what her song is about, Blu Jay says that “money, sex, power and fame can’t mask the hurt. Pain is pain no matter your level of success.”

In her chorus, Blu Jay sings confidently “Money, power, sex, fame / All these drinks still feel the same.” In another verse, she emotionally sings “Yeah I can’t waste more time on you” before the song bursts into an explosion of beautifully layered beats.

The various sounds and the melody used in “Money Power Sex Fame” add character to the song. Musically, Blu Jay likes to write indie pop songs that honor her Brazilian roots. If you want to join her world of passionate living, music and creativity, be sure to follow Blu Jay.
