Kate Vogel announces second album ‘soft’ out Sept. 20

Date:

Following the release of her single “broke up on my birthday,” Nashville-based singer-songwriter Kate Vogel has announced her second LP, soft, set to be released on Friday, Sept. 20. Known for her soulful vocals and deeply personal lyrics, Vogel continues to explore themes of emotional angst and pain on her upcoming record, three years after the release of her debut album, Someone I’m Proud Of (2021).

In a heartfelt post, Vogel wrote, “I hope these songs remind you to try to remain vulnerable and soft even after all of life’s heartaches. Heartfelt appreciation to every person involved in this project [and] it takes a village.”

Vogel has been candid about her struggles, particularly on her recent track “light at the end of the tunnel,” which is an anthem of hope and resilience — and the idea that even in the darkest parts of her story, she will be okay and persevere. During an interview with PEOPLE Magazine, she revealed that the song stems from her experiences with sexual assault, violence and harassment as teenager. She shared that she felt like she was the one at fault.

Vogel elaborated on Instagram, expressing her hope that the song offers solace and encouragement to those feeling lost and confused, reassuring them that they will eventually overcome their struggles.
