Gracie Abrams says her upcoming tour will be different from previous performances

Date:

In a recent Audacy Check In with Bru, rising pop sensation Gracie Abrams sat down to discuss her sophomore album The Secret of Us and her upcoming headlining tour. Released on June 21, The Secret of Us has already captivated fans with its deeply personal lyrics and collaborations, including the standout track “Us” featuring Taylor Swift.

Gracie’s return to the stage has been eagerly anticipated since the completion of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour. Set to run from September 5 through October 10, Abrams upcoming The Secret of Us Tour will take her across theaters in the United States, with special guest Role Model joining her. “Honestly, I’m just excited to be back with everyone, I feel like the heart of tour is the people that you get to do it with both backstage and also the people that show up and make up the audience.”

Having opened for artists like Noah Kahan and Taylor Swift, Gracie has drawn inspiration from their ability to connect with audiences. She admitted, “I think it’s like infectious to be around artists that are great at what they do. And I think, you know, Noah and Taylor are both incredibly talented performers and both are so connected to their audiences. So I think more than anything, it just contributes to the itch of wanting to be back on stage.”

Abrams’ upcoming tour tour will be different from her previous performances, not just in scale but in the overall experience. Gracie noted, “This is like a different scale for us… I mean, even seeing the stage yesterday for the first time was pretty mind blowing. I didn’t even anticipate, even after having seen renders of the stage, it’s just really wild when you’re actually standing there and everything exists and is tangible.”

With The Secret of Us still fresh, Gracie is already looking ahead, feeling a familiar sense of “anticipatory anxiety” about creating new music. “I think after something’s been released, I tend to just get this anticipatory anxiety around making the next thing. So I’ve started to feel that creep up,” she confessed. However, she’s channeling that energy into her upcoming tour, which will heavily feature tracks from the new album.

Reflecting on her own songs, she admitted that there are tracks she would change with hindsight but has accepted them as they are. Nevertheless, she enjoys reimagining her older material during live shows. “You get to mess around with old songs and rearrange them. We’ve done that with some stuff this upcoming show. Just reimagining songs that I kind of have gotten a little bit tired of that I put out years ago. But if I take it and like restructure melodies and stuff, I have new love for lots of old songs now.”

Gracie Abrams is closing out the summer with high hopes for her tour, a renewed passion for her music, and a “pressure-free” goal to write “one more song that I really love that I can mark as the end of this season.” As her journey continues, fans can expect a tour filled with emotional depth, creative reinvention, and the undeniable connection that has become the hallmark of her music.
