As a kid, Vincent Mason was inspired by the stories that songs were able to tell on movie soundtracks. When he got to college, the singer-songwriter began creating his own songs with the intention of telling stories that were just as insightful as the ones told on soundtracks. Vincent now uses his skills to craft songs that blend intimate country storytelling with pop sensibilities, which make for memorable singles like “Hell is a Dance Floor.” Released in February, “Hell is a Dance Floor” has accumulated over 45M streams and is currently #20 on SiriusXM’s Hot 30 Countdown, making it one of his biggest singles thus far. On September 7, Vincent will take things one step further and make his debut at the Grand Ole Opry, where he will be able to share his unique stories and personal messages with fans old and new. He might even perform his new single, “Train of Thought.”
On “Train of Thought,” Vincent refrains from reuniting with an old flame. He knows it is best to keep his distance and not act on any lingering feelings because it can only cause drama. With sweet country vocals, he sings, “I remember having reasons why we didn’t work out / But I couldn’t tell you one if you asked me right now / ‘Cause I still see you on fire, burnin’ up right next to me / If you wanna strike that match again, you know where I’ll be / But I ain’t gonna chase you / I ain’t gonna call,” wanting whatever is meant to be unfold naturally. With the help of Jared Keim, Ryan Beaver, and Chase McDaniel, Vincent flaunts his abilities as a writer and storyteller on this track, which you can check out below.
About the single, Vincent shares,
“I got to write with some of my favorite writers in town and walked out with this song. It feels like a new side to my sound while still fitting into what we’ve already built, and I can’t wait for the fans to hear it.”
You can listen to “Train of Thought” on platforms like Spotify, SoundCloud, and Apple Music.
In the fall, Vincent will be directly supporting Gavin Adcock on his ‘Actin’ Up Again’ tour. You can get tickets here.
