Last Friday, alt-rock songstress Cassyette released her long-awaited debut LP This World Fucking Sucks. After establishing herself as a well-accomplished performer and songwriter in the modern rock world, the English singer-songwriter has delivered an inaugural body of work that is well-rounded, hard-hitting and incredibly vulnerable. With a signature sound that combines hard rock with electro-pop, Cassyette is able to make her stay within the ears of all listeners.

Originally paving her way as a DJ within the London music scene, Cassyette made her festival debut in 2021 at the Download Pilot Festival, where she also had a guest appearance alongside headliners Frank Carter & the Rattlesnakes. She soon released her debut EP Sad Girl Mixtape in 2022. This year Cassyette announced her debut album along with a spring headlining tour throughout the UK and Europe. She also co-wrote and provided backing vocals for “Doomsday Blue,” the song written and performed by Bambie Thug, Ireland’s representative performer for Eurovision 2024. Cassyette was also a supporting act for Bryan Adams’s 2024 “So Happy It Hurts” tour.

Leading up to the release of her debut full-length album, Cassyette has not only accomplished a lot as an artist and performer, but she has received praise from the likes of DIY Magazine, Rock Sound, Upset Magazine, Gay Times and Kerrang. Renowned for her intense vulnerability and a musicality that uplifts listeners, Cassyette is the definitive alternative rockstar. A master at fusing together diverse elements, the artist maintains both a unique look and sound. Combining goth elements with ultra-feminine aesthetics, Cassyette delivers her hard rock artistry with an alt-coquette style.

Her debut project, nearly a year and a half in the making, is a diverse and emotive body of work. Heavily inspired by her father who passed away in 2021, Cassyette includes several tracks on the album such as “When She Told Me” and “Over It” that conveys her sadness, longing and grief. Other highlights on the record such as “Sex Metal” and “Degenerette Nation” serve as industrial-techno beats that anticipate listeners for what is next to come. Heavy and upbeat songs like “Ipecac” and “Sugar Rush” are punchy and distorted rock tracks which round out and convey everything that Cassyette is capable of within her work.

Through her artistry, Cassyette embodies grief, rage and excitement — all unavoidable aspects of life. Essentially, Cassyette’s music conveys what it means to live, defining her as the ultimate rock performer and alternative icon.
