The single “favorite parts of me,” the last song from the EP reminders of you, by Savanna Leigh was released on August 20. In her EP, singer-songwriter Savanna Leigh encourages listeners to self-reflect. In her latest single, she does that by pointing out that she misses who she was when she was with her ex rather than her ex himself.
Throughout the indie pop song, she sings “I don’t miss you / I just miss who I was when I was with you.” Among changes in her life, she explains that she used to think her ex could be the “missing piece” to reclaiming herself. However, she eventually comes to “terms with my reality” and realizes she only misses the favorite parts of herself from the time she was in her relationship and that she doesn’t need her ex to reclaim those parts. Savanna Leigh expands on the confusion she experienced when making that revelation as she sings in her second verse “My head’s in the rearview.”
In her music video, Savanna returns to spots where she had good moments with her ex as she thinks back to who she used to be. In the flashbacks, viewers can see her smiling and having fun when she’s with her ex. Contrastingly, in the present her face is void of those happy feelings when she reflects on the favorite parts of her that she misses.
On creating her EP, Savanna Leigh says that she wanted to create an experience where listeners can feel safe to self-reflect on their past. “It’s important for the songs to allow someone to feel all of the emotions without fear of judgment,” Leigh said.
